When Liz Kerslake, 39, was married to her first husband she says she got complacent and started gaining weight, but as her dress sizes grew, so did her partner’s biting remarks. After he continued to call her “fat and ugly,” she said she was motivated to start trimming down but she was never able to keep the weight off.
While she and her seemingly not-so-lovely spouse were going through a divorce in 2008, she met Nick. As many relationships go, when they started dating, she put on a bit of “honeymooning weight.”
“I felt really comfortable and stopped exercising but carried on eating the same. The weight piled back on,” she told the Daily Mail.
After Nick proposed, Liz, who lives in Plymouth, England, became determined to get svelte for her wedding day so she joined the National Slimming & Cosmetic Clinics.
As part of the plan, Liz who says her job makes it difficult for her to fit in exercise, swapped going to the gym for walking her Chihuahua for an hour each day and she cut out carbs as well.
“Before then I had always looked for an excuse to fall off the wagon,” she explained.
Her diet, which consists of a protein shake for breakfast, no lunch, and a piece of chicken or fish for dinner with some veggies, seems hard to sustain, but she has managed to keep the weight off long after her wedding day.
